What will happen if the ignition coil malfunctions?

The ignition coil is a key component to your vehicles, and its normal operation is crucial to engine performance. Once the ignition coil malfunctions, it will cause a series of adverse effects on the vehicle. 

Firstly, a faulty ignition coil can cause the corresponding cylinder to malfunction. This can cause issues such as idle shaking, weak acceleration, and inability to refuel. At the same time, the engine light will also light up, indicating that there is a malfunction situation in the ignition coil. At idle, sometimes the shaking may not be obvious, but it will definitely occur and be weak when accelerating. During acceleration, sometimes there may be weak acceleration and shaking due to power outage. 

Secondly, when there is a shortage of cylinders, the mixture of gasoline and air in the cylinder cannot be ignited and is discharged from the exhaust pipe.  However, the temperature of the exhaust pipe is very high, and when the mixed gas reaches the exhaust pipe, it will burn due to high temperature. In this case, the large amount of heat generated by combustion may cause blockage of the three-way catalytic pores in the exhaust pipe, leading to three-way catalytic failure. 

In addition, a malfunction in the ignition coil may also cause severe engine vibration, with a sound similar to that of a tractor. When accelerating, the vehicle may exhibit symptoms of shaking, lack of power, and inability to shift up in high gears. The engine light will also light up. When driving, the vehicle may move backward then forward, showing obvious instability. When idling, the engine may experience shaking and there is a strong smell of gasoline in the exhaust.
