Common mistakes in wheel hub modification

1. Use cheap fake goods

Wheel modification is a more important step in car modification, and whether it is appearance modification or performance improvement, the wheel has played an important role in which, a high-quality wheel after rigorous production process and strict inspectionplays an important role. A set of genuine wheels are expensive, and large producers who are capable of manufacturing high quality wheels spends lots on research and develepment, leading to unfavourble prices of wheel products when comparing to small producers of fake wheels. Using fake wheels from a "small workshop" production might look the same in appearances, however it differs in aspects like strength and weight, raising severe safety concerns to car users and others. There are often "counterfeit" wheel customers complaining about inexplicable cracks, deformation and other problems. Moreover, under high-speed, counterfeit products could not afford such a large strength of the load, leading to high risk of high-speed burst phenomenon which would directly affect the safety of the driver and passengers. Therefore, in particular, if economic conditions are temporarily not allowed, please carefully choose modified wheels. Although the original "steel ring", "casting wheels" may not be beautiful and lightweight, at least the safety is guaranteed.

2. Choose inappropriate wheel hubs

The role of the wheel for improving the appearance is more obvious, but when selecting the wheel hub, every detail should be taken into account. The parameters of the wheel hub will affect the use of the wheel hub and the vehicle,. If the pitch circle diameter, PCD, value is incorrect, the wheel hub may not be able to install normally. The wheel offset, ET (stands for Einpresstiefe word in German) value not only affects the installation and use, but may affect the future upgrade and modification as well. For example, the original car is a single piston brake system, the owner intends to upgrade it to a multi-piston brake system in the future. However, the ET value and hub size are too small for the normal installation, so when upgrading the brake system, the owner will have to replace or upgrade the hub twice.

3. Install the wheel hubs wrongly

Many car modification businesses will not remind the owner of the size of the center hole diameter, and if the new wheel hub size is smaller than the original size, wheel hub can not be installed smoothly. Meanwhile if the new size was larger than the original, installing it without taking comparative measures would result in abnormal noise and shaking of the vehicle when driving. In serious cases, it would affect the safety of the vehicle. If you really intend to use that kind of hub, and there is no way to find out the center hole size, here are two possible solutions. For smaller new wheel hub, you can do some reaming on the wheel hub. For bigger wheel hub, you can use the center hole sleeve ring to correct.

4. Pursuing the largest possible wheel hub

Some people think that only the use of large-size wheels is upgrading, and some people think that large-size wheels brings more visual impact. But whether it is visual or performance, choosing the suitable wheel size for your vehicle is better. In terms of appearance, over-sized wheels make people feel that their feet are heavy, affecting the overall feeling. In terms of performance, it is necessary to have a balance. It is more important to choose right size of wheels to match the upgrade of tires. For larger, wider tires, it provides more stable grip. However, it also brings stronger friction that affects your car acceleration and fuel consumption. In addition, if the hub size has changed with other systems of your car not adjusting, it would also cause issues. For instance, it affects the steering of the vehicle as well. The pursuit of size would sacrifice the performance and control. Economically the increase in wheel size leads to an increase in costs and a following rise in tires.
